Outside

Far from the comfort of my four walls.
I'm sitting on an uncomfortable steel bench.
No people, no phones, it's green all around.
It's a weirdly comforting place that I've found.

I can hear the leaves falling from above.
I can see the birds chirping their songs.
Monkeys swinging and the crickets creaking.
In this beauty of chaos, peace, is what I'm feeling.

It's been hours. My sweat has all dried up.
My clothes are dry and I'm not tired.
My legs well rested, breath it's calm.
This place is cool. I crave something warm.

I need to return, get back to my work.
To those four walls. Now I cannot stall.
There, I'll stop running away and quit quitting.
So I can return here, to where I'm sitting.
So I can sit here, without hearing this heart beating.
So I can enjoy this, free from the secrets I'm keeping.

I didn't take my phone to the hill top, so I decided to draw it.

The place where I went.

Red soil dug from under a tree making it look like a small den with the roots of the tree exposed, and it's surrounding.

Paper is wet from the sweat dripping from my face. :~)

The poem I wrote there.

This poem, and a sample of the most abundent leaf there.
